Myrtle Beach National Company Assumes Management of Blackmoor Golf Club
09/11/2008
September 10, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Myrtle Beach National Company, one of the Myrtle Beach area’s oldest and largest golf course ownership companies, has now ventured into the operating and management of other area golf courses with the announcement today that it will assume management of Blackmoor Golf Club located in Murrells Inlet, as of September 10, 2008.
“This management agreement is part of our company’s future expansion strategy to grow market share and revenue in the golf segment of tourism in Myrtle Beach” said Tom Hale, executive vice president of Myrtle Beach National Company who orchestrated the management agreement. “We feel that this property can be integrated into our current course mix, benefit from our areas of expertise and help us achieve our short and long term business objectives.”
Currently the Myrtle Beach National Company has nine golf courses rated four stars or higher by Golf Digest’s “2008 Places to Play” guide. The management agreement with Blackmoor encompasses course maintenance, pro shop management, and advertising and marketing for the Gary Player signature course that opened in 1990.
“We’re excited about having the opportunity to add Blackmoor to our Signature collection of golf courses owned by the Myrtle Beach National Company” said Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations and marketing of Myrtle Beach National Company. “The management team at the Myrtle Beach National Company has been approached many times over the years to manage other courses. It is a challenge for a single course to stand alone in today’s marketplace and compete against multi-course ownership groups. Now with the critical mass of resources that we have in place, it makes sense strategically and economically to assume the third-party management of Blackmoor and other courses in the market. We look forward to being directly involved with the day-to-day management of the only Gary Player Signature course on the Grand Strand.”
