Things to do in Myrtle Beach with Young Kids: Winter Edition
Myrtle Beach is increasingly a year-round kind of destination. In the summer, visitors enjoy our gorgeous sandy beaches and fun water attractions. Fortunately, when the weather cools off, there’s still plenty of excellent entertainment to be found, even for families with young children. Here are a few of our favorite activities for kids that are still fun even in wintertime:
Broadway at the Beach
There is a ton of fun to be had at Broadway, and plenty of it is great for young kids.
You can start with Wonderworks. There are interactive and educational exhibits for kids of all ages, with hands on fun. Kids love the anti-gravity chamber, the tesla coil, the light and sound exhibits and of course the bubble lab. And best of all, kids 3 and younger are free with a paying adult.
If the weather outside is nice enough (and it usually is in Myrtle Beach – though you may need to leave your coat on), you can also enjoy the rides at the Carousel Park and Pavilion Nostalgia Park, including plenty of fun kiddie rides.
And don’t forget Ripley’s Aquarium, which is open every day of the year. Kids love seeing all the underwater animals, and there are plenty of hands on and interactive exhibits as well. Tickets for kids aged 2-5 are only $4.99.
Children’s Museum of South Carolina
This hands-on play and learning museum is a bit of a hidden gem, but it’s a terrific option for young kids to play, explore and get creative. There are fossil hunts, interactive electricity games, bubble exhibits, art centers and more. Check the calendar for specific events that are often planned for different age groups, including Tales for Tots, story and craft times for families with kids aged 1-4.
Play at Long Bay Resort’s Indoor Water Amenities
When you stay at Long Bay Resort in the winter, you’re welcome to enjoy our indoor kiddie pool and lazy river, because they’re enclosed and heated through the winter!
