Cheeseburger In Paradise – Jimmy Buffett’s Myrtle Beach Restaurant
This tiki hut-style establishment is splashed with bright, Caribbean colors and bamboo interiors, transporting visitors to one of the many island haunts that Buffett wrote and sang about in his literary and musical career. Featuring a Caribbean-inspired menu that includes fresh seafood, steaks and salads, the main draw is just as the title suggests - big, juicy burgers piled high with toppings you won't find at your average burger joint. "We have all kinds of great food," said Bill Morrill, managing partner of the Myrtle Beach location. "But if your name is 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' you'd better have a great burger, and that's what we do best." Ground from 99.9 percent Black Angus beef, the burgers melt in your mouth.
Unlike many establishments, Cheeseburger In Paradise can cook them to order, including rare and medium rare, due to the quality of the meat. The only difficulty is choosing which of the 15 burgers to order. The obvious choice is Jimmy's favorite: "with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french-fried potatoes." But that's only the beginning of this burger buffet. Among the tastier half-pounders is the Baja Burger with fresh avacado, sour cream, lettuce, onions, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo and salsa for those who like their burger to pack a mix of heat and cool. Cheeseburger In Paradise also serves up it famous mini-burgers and a burger of the day that gets even more creative.
All burgers are served with side of fries, onion straws, sweet-potato chips or the veggie of the day if you want to feel less guilty.
For those not in the mood for a burger, Cheeseburger In Paradise has you covered with its unique salads and sandwiches, and a diverse list of entrees that includes jerked ribs, fresh catch seafood and grilled steaks and chicken.
Cheeseburger In Paradise also offers some of Buffett's favorite liquid refreshments, such as ice-cold draft beer and frozen drinks. Ice cream and Key Lime Pie are among the dessert offerings, if you have room left over from the burgers.
Live music is played on the weekends and the servers help bring the party to life. Cheeseburger In Paradise is famous for its unique promotions, such as the current Create a Pina Colada Contest and an ongoing "Flamingoing" contest for fans to share photos of themselves posing with (or dressed as) pink flamingos.
Jimmy would be proud, and he is. As an occasional visitor himself, Buffett has put his personal thumbs-up on everything on the menu. Cheeseburger In Paradise is located at 7211 North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (midnight on Fridays and Saturdays).
