Are you coming to Long Bay Resort this summer? Get ready for an amazing vacation! It doesn’t get much better than being outside, relaxing and listening to the sound of the waves crashing. It can be easy to get caught up on your vacation and forget one of the most important beach rules: don’t forget the sunscreen.

Here are 5 tips on avoiding getting sunburn in Myrtle Beach:

1.) Apply before heading out: Before you head out to the beach or pool apply sunscreen evenly on your skin. It is easier to apply ahead of time, and it helps decrease the chances of missing spots.

2.) Reapply every hour: It may seem like a lot to apply every hour, but if you are planning a full beach day then you will need it. While on the beach it can be a pain to reapply with all of the sand, so make it easier on yourself and purchase an aerosol spray. Always be cautious of the wind when it comes to using an aerosol spray! You don’t want to be the person who thinks they are applying and ends up red as a lobster by the end of the day.

3.) Choose Wisely: When vacationing in Myrtle Beach we highly recommend at least a 30 SPF. During the summer days the sun is the strongest from 11a.m-3p.m. It’s a great idea to grab lotion that is waterproof, as most people will spend their time in the ocean or pool.

4.) Take Breaks: If you are planning a full beach or pool day be sure to let your body take a break from the sun every now and then. You can take a break at our indoor pool or use an umbrella whenever possible to not only cool off, but protect your skin.

5.) Bring Accessories: When packing your beach bag always remember to bring the essentials. This includes a hat, sunglasses and cover-up or tee shirt. You may not think you need it, but chances are you will!
